We can feel all four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter in Japan. Since the latitude differs and so does the weather from Hokkaido to Okinawa. In the Kanto district we can enjoy spring, summer, autumn and winter uniformly.

In Oarai, from February last,it is the time of KANBAI season. All can enjoy seeing and smelling plum blossoms. The cherry trees bloom at the end of March. This is a magnificent time to come to Oarai and have a party under the gently flowering, soft pink trees.
Gradually the temperature warms up through April and May. This is the time when the rice is planted and the fields take on a luxurious, luscious green hue. In June, the damp, rainy season (TSUYU) comes. After the rainy season finishes, summer arrives.
Summer is usually hot, often above 30 degrees. It is very humid and can be difficult for those not used to such conditions. It is definitely the time for swimming in the Pacific and enjoying fireworks at night.
From late August, early October, typhoon season starts. In the latter half of September, the summer heat begins to recede and the moon can be clearly seen. This is the first sign of autumn and later, in October and November, the bright moon of mid autumn (Chushu no meigetsu) can be seen. At this time, all can enjoy the beauty of the changing leaves. This is also the time to harvest the year's rice crop.
December in Oarai is very cold, but with crisp, clear, sunny days. The average winter temperature is around 4 degrees. In mid February, the first welcome signs of spring reappear with the plum blossoms.
Oarai has a different, beautiful face for each of the seasons.
